Research Project Open Data and Open Standards

The IMM Committee would like to invite you to participate in the Open Data and Open Standards Research Project. Click here to download the pdf project brief.

The Semantic Web and Semantic Technologies

The IMM have been asked to write a research paper on The Semantic Web and Semantic Technologies.

The objectives of the paper are to:

  • provide government staff with a "user friendly" (explainable in a tweet) overview of the Semantic Web and semantic technologies with practical examples and explanations;
  • help to set standards for semantic technologies (NLP and Linked Data) and the Semantic Web;
  • to identify potential areas of opportunity where small pilots/projects might be undertaken, and
  • to "create a buzz" but in plain language.

We will be working with key people in a number of government agencies to undertake this research, both in Australia and overseas.

The initial finding will be presented at Meta2012.

If you are interested in finding out more about this research or have some expertise upon which we might be able to draw we would love to hear from you.
